EXECUTIVE BOARD RESOLUTION REGARDING IBEW LOCAL 58 BENEVOLENT FUND

WHEREAS, the members of Local 58 have voted to establish a Benevolent Fund to aid members who have suffered severe injury, disability or loss, and

WHEREAS, the Executive Board of Local 58 desires to establish guidelines and procedures regarding the Benevolent Fund,

IT IS THEREFORE RESOLVED as follows:

  1. Local 58 will establish a separate, segregated account known as the IBEW Local 58 Benevolent Fund.
  2. The President of Local 58 shall appoint a Benevolent Fund Committee to:
    1. Plan, organize and carry out fund raising activities for the Benevolent Fund.
    2. Manage the monies in the Benevolent Fund and decide which institution which should hold the funds and the form of holdings, such as checking account, savings account, certificates of deposit or other reasonably secure but liquid investments.
    3. Decide the recipients of gifts from the Benevolent Fund and the timing and amounts of such gifts, in accordance with this Resolution.
  3. The Benevolent Fund Committee will make gifts to deserving members of the IBEW family who have suffered severe injury, disability or catastrophic loss resulting in great hardship to such members and their families. The recipients, timing and amounts of gifts will depend on the relative hardship of cases under consideration, the amount of funds available and Local 58's ability to maintain the Benevolent fund. The decisions of the Committee as to recipients and amounts of gifts shall be final.
  4. This Resolution may be amended at any time by action of the Executive Board. The Benevolent Fund may be terminated at any time by action of the membership. No individual member has any right or claim concerning monies in the Benevolent Fund, except as decided by the Benevolent fund Committee under this Resolution.
  5. No Local Union monies will be used for any actions of the Benevolent Fund.
