Veterans Renewing Your Michigan License

In accordance with 2012 PA 313, any veteran providing satisfactory proof of an honorable discharge is exempt from examination fees and licensing fees.

For consideration, please attach documentation to your application such as a copy of a DD Form 214, or DD 256 Certificate obtained after serving.

 HONORABLE DISCHARGE must be indicated on the accompanyingdocumentation for identification
of the individual’s character of service
and type of separation.

 A free copy of a DD 214 can be obtained from the National Archives, and information for a request
can be found at:
www.archives.gov/veterans/military-service-records. 

If you have renewed your license after October 1, 2012 you may apply for a refund. Send a request along
with a copy of your DD 214 or DD 256
(stating honorable discharge) to:
